A Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) is a clinician -often a physical or occupational therapist – who has completed advanced postgraduate training in manual therapy. COMT practitioners are expert in hands‑on assessment and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions, using techniques such as joint mobilization and manipulation, soft‑tissue therapy, and individualized exercise programs to reduce pain, restore movement, and improve function.
At CPT, our COMT-certified therapists bring an advanced level of clinical reasoning and technical precision to every patient encounter. Treatment is rooted in a thorough biomechanical and movement assessment, allowing the therapist to identify the specific joints, tissues, and movement patterns contributing to a patient’s symptoms. From this foundation, a targeted manual therapy plan is developed — one that goes beyond symptom management to address the underlying mechanical dysfunction driving pain and restricted movement. Each intervention is selected based on current evidence, clinical findings, and the individual needs of the patient.
COMT-level care is designed for patients who require a more precise and thorough approach to their musculoskeletal condition — particularly those who have not responded fully to conventional treatment.
