Sports Therapy
Get back in the game with the help from the CPT team! Our certified therapists provide sports therapy to professional or recreational athletes in order to help them prevent injuries, or evaluate, and rehabilitate current ones.
Beyond minor abrasions, blisters, and cramps, the most common sports injuries are due to overuse. Tennis players who repeatedly stress their forearm muscles may develop tennis elbow, runners whose shoes aren’t supportive enough may be plagued by shin splints or runner’s knee, and baseball players who don’t work to strengthen their shoulder in the off-season may find themselves with a shoulder impingement. Running involves every muscle from the foot to the neck, putting strain on the legs, and it can lead to many common injuries.
Your therapist at CPT considers the impact of running as an element of any active sport. Everyone from amateur practitioners to pro athletes is plagued by these seven most common sports injuries:
• Pulled muscle
• Runner’s knee
• Shoulder impingement
• Shin splints
• Tennis elbow; golf elbow
• Ankle sprain
• Achilles tendinitis
Knowing how to prevent and treat these injuries can keep their occurrence rare and minor. When they can’t be avoided, we treat a full range of sports-related problems of any severity.
CPT therapists are very involved in our athletes’ recovery from injury or illness. We employ a team approach with years of experience to determine the main problem for the athlete, and we work closely with your medical team and sports coaches to help our athletes overcome their impairment. Our therapists understand the physical and psychological demands of athlete’s goals. We design strategies to help athletes return to an optimal level of function, while minimizing the risk of re-injury.
